About Us

Lovnpaws Cattery began in 1989, in Southern California. We went to a cat show looking for a pet kitten, and fell in love with the Tonkinese. And we decided that showing might be fun, so we looked for one that could be a pet, and maybe shown a bit!

What we got was a beautiful little Champagne mink girl, who hated to show, and would not have babies! She was a great pet, though!

So friends (Ron & Carol Mackay) took pity on us and “loaned” us a pregnant queen. From that girl, we had a litter of 4 kittens, 3 of which we granded. And we were well on our way to being cat addicted!

Several grand champions and Regional Winners later, we had become totally involved in the Cat Fancy. Eric became president of the Tonkinese Breed Association, I was Secretary and President of other clubs, and daughter Kristin decided she loved Norwegian Forest Cats!

So we got a Wegie. Elsa was a real beauty, and a great little trouper. We showed her all over the Mid-West (by that time we were living in Minnesota) and made her 18th Best Premier in Region 6.

Last year was our crowing achievement. GC, NW, BW Lovnpaws Jack Daniels of Purrtek became our first National Winner (12th Best Cat) and National Best of Breed. The owner of his daddy, Beth Cassely, did most of the showing, and for that we are forever grateful!

Our goal is to raise healthy, beautiful kittens with the outstanding Purr-sonalities that we have come to know so well in our home. Kittens are raised underfoot, with kisses every day, and never know a cage. They think the couch is theirs! We have to move them to sit down, and you know, sometimes they are quite insulted.
